Toronto Maple Leafs Haven't Closed the Door on Nick Foligno

When Nick Foligno made his way to the Toronto Maple Leafs, many felt he was the perfect fit. He showed early on it was working, as he was riding on the left-wing of Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews and having success. A freak injury got in the way unfortunately, and in 11 total games Foligno never scored. Still, it sounds like he could be getting another look in Blue and White.

Foligno turns 34 in October, and is likely looking for a two or three year contract. He made $5.5 million last season and if he's willing to take a pay cut, the Maple Leafs could find a way to slip him in under the cap.

The team is losing Zach Hyman so there's going to be a gaping hole on left wing. Losing Foligno on top of that would certainly be a gut punch to the Maple Leafs, however it would open the door wide open for top prospect Nick Robertson to be given some more minutes.

While the Maple Leafs are considering bringing back Foligno, the Minnesota Wild are also believed to be extremely interested in pairing Nick with his brother Marcus. Everything should come down to the wire on Wednesday and we'll be happy to share the news once the eldest Foligno brother puts pen to paper.
