Anaheim Ducks: 3 Bold Predictions Heading Into 2021-22 Season

The Anaheim Ducks are in a position of transition. Long time captain Ryan Getzlaf tested free agency and ended up returning to California on a one-year deal, meanwhile the rest of the roster is rather young with lots of potential. Let's make three bold predictions for the Ducks heading into the 2021-22 season.

Ducks Trade for Jack Eichel

Anaheim has been rumored to be in the hunt for Eichel and certainly have the cap space this season and moving forward to fit his $10 million contract under their cap. The Sabres apparently want one of Trevor Zegras or Jamie Drysdale and to this point the Ducks keep saying no. Eichel would be a great replacement to be given the torch from Getzlaf, moving forward as the face of the franchise.

Ducks Struggle and Getzlaf Gets Traded at the Deadline

This was the first summer Getzlaf tested free agency and he admitted it was quite the experience. The Ducks are not expected to compete for a playoff spot this season in the West and this could finally be the season they trade 'Getzy' to a playoff team. Look for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators to be all over the veteran center if he decides he wants to go chase another Stanley Cup.

Zegras Finishes With 50-Plus Points

The former first-round pick will be given a much longer leash this season and could spend time on the team's top-two lines. Last season in 24 games, Zegras put up 13 points. He's flashy, offensively gifted and has some of the best hands around. Expect a big season out of the New York native and it should include at least 50 points next season.
