Minnesota Wild: 2 Prospects Who Could Make The Team Next Season

Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHLers next season.

In this episode, we will be taking a gander at the Minnesota Wild. The Kirill Kaprizov KHL drama is taking over the news when it comes to this team, so it will be nice to focus on their prospects. With the Wild coming off of a strong season, it would be even more fantastic to see some of their young kids make the team and play well next year, too. Here are two prospects who could make fine additions.

Calen Addison D: The Wild acquired Calen Addison in the Jason Zucker trade and there's a lot of excitement following this kid. In 31 games this season with the Iowa Wild, the 21-year-old scored six goals and recorded 22 total points. Yet, besides being capable of producing solid offense, he also has been noted for his reliable defensive play. He suited up in three games with the Wild this season, too, but failed to record a point. He should be given more chances next season with the NHL club and could even wiggle his way into their top-six.

Marco Rossi C: Marco Rossi experienced long-term complications from COVID-19 and played very little hockey this past season. However, he is stepping back onto the ice this month, as he will be playing for Team Austria in the Olympic qualifiers. If Rossi is fully recovered from his lengthy illness, he stands a real shot of making the team next season. He is the Wild's top prospect because of his remarkable offensive ability. In 2019-20 with Ottawa 67s, he led the OHL in scoring with 120 total points. He has a lot of potential to become a true star in this league, and it would be amazing to see him start his NHL journey this fall.
