Montreal Canadiens: 2 Players Who Could Be Traded Next Season

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next season. Our last article we ate at the Big Apple, today we make way to Montreal and visit in with the Canadiens.

2 Canadiens Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:

Jonathan Drouin: The Canadiens had to carry on last postseason without Drouin who was away from the team for personal matters. The team received a ton of calls on him this summer and have decided he's a part of their team for at least the beginning of next season. After that is anyone's guess, as the 26-year-old has two years left on his contract at $5.5 million per season.

Paul Byron: The Canadiens were hopeful the Seattle Kraken would take a look at Byron but that wasn't the case. The veteran forward ended up being a big part of the playoff run, after a season where he was on waivers multiple times. Byron finished the year with 16 points in 46 games and has two years on his contract left, paying him $3.4 million. The team may need to eat some salary if they want to move the speedy winger.
