Buffalo Sabres Re-Sign Henri Jokiharju

The Buffalo Sabres are staying busy. After re-signing Casey Middlestadt earlier today, they now have done the same with Henri Jokiharju. The young defenseman has agreed to a three-year, $7.5 million contract. It will have an average annual value of $2.5 million.

Jokiharju is viewed as one of Buffalo's key defensemen moving forward. The Sabres acquired him from the Chicago Blackhawks before the start of the 2019-20 season in exchange for Alexander Nylander. In his first season with the Sabres, he scored four goals and had 15 points in 69 games. He then followed that up with eight points in 46 games this past season.

Jokiharju is seen as a player with good potential and should continue to improve over these next few years. With the Sabres trading Rasmus Ristolainen, he is now viewed by most as their top right-handed defenseman. As a result of this, he should be receiving a lot of playing time this upcoming season.

Overall, this has been a good day for Buffalo, as they now have two of their key RFAs signed to new deals.
