Connor McDavid Comments on Edmonton Oilers Direction

The Edmonton Oilers are going to look like a much different team this season but are they going to improve? That's the million dollar question when it comes to captain Connor McDavid as he recently opened up about the offseason his management team went through.

The Oilers made some very bold moves this past summer with the likes of a Duncan Keith trade, Cody Ceci signing and a huge contract for Zach Hyman. McDavid sees the moves as a positive step for the franchise and recently met with the media and opened up about the team's summer:

Mainly, you've gotta see a push from everybody. It starts at the top. I think me and (Draisaitl) have to take a step, and (Darnell Nurse) and those core guys have to take a step forward and be better. The same with the young guys. Everybody's got to push each other. For us, I think we've got to focus on coming in and having a great camp, start building that chemistry and building that culture, and getting off to a good start, and we go from there. That's all we can really focus on. Let the chips fall where they may.

There's a ton of pressure on McDavid and the Oilers to produce a winning season that sees them win a couple of playoff rounds. Anything short will be a disappointment and one step closer to some serious drama out of Edmonton.
