Minnesota Wild: 2 Breakout Candidates For Next Season

With each season that passes, it seems as though every team has players who improve significantly. They often turn out to be prospects naturally, but players who have some experience in the league also can. In this segment, we will be looking at two potential breakout candidates from each team. We will also be setting a max age limit of 26 years old, so older players are not eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be looking at the Minnesota Wild. It will be entertaining to see how they respond from last year's very strong season. Players like Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek took big steps forward this past season, so who is next in line for the Wild? These two players seem like very solid candidates.

Jordan Greenway LW: With all the hype surrounding Kaprizov, some people may not have realize that Jordan Greenway showed serious improvement this past season. In 56 games, he scored six goals and recorded 32 points. The season before, he had 28 points in 67 games. He will be a fascinating player to watch this season, as he has the tools to become another top-of-the-line player for the Wild. He's a power forward who throws the body regularly, but it would be amazing to see his point totals continue to go up. He certainly has the potential to make that happen.

Matt Boldy LW: Matt Boldy will surely make his debut this season and could immediately become a top-six forward for the Wild. In 22 goals this season with Boston College, he scored 11 goals and recorded 31 points. He also lit up the AHL with the Iowa Wild. In 14 games, he scored six goals and registered 18 points. The 2019 first-round pick has the tools to become a key player for Minnesota and could be as soon as this upcoming season.

Honorable Mentions: Marco Rossi and Calen Addison are also two breakout candidates. Yet, due to the fact that we discussed them in our prospect piece last month, it felt fair to look at some other players.
