Dallas Stars: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be looking at the Dallas Stars. They have a bunch of notable players who will be in need of new contracts by next off-season. We will focus on the main UFA eligible players in this one. Ideally, they would love to keep all of them around. However, due to the fact that they have key RFAs to bring back as well, it's going to be very challenging.

John Klingberg D (UFA): John Klingberg is a key player with an expiring contract with the Stars. He's developed into an integral part of their blueline because of his offensive contributions. In 53 games this past season, he scored seven goals and recorded 36 points. It will be intriguing to see if they are able to bring him back, as he rightfully will be asking for a significant raise.

Joe Pavelski RW/C (UFA): Even with Joe Pavelski getting older, he is still a very effective top-six forward. In 56 games this past season, the 37-year-old scored 25 goals and recorded 51 points. If they have it their way, Pavelski will be re-signed, as he provides them with a bit of everything. However, Klingberg needs to be priority number one because he's one of their best defensemen and still in his prime.

Alexander Radulov RW (UFA): Alexander Radulov is another important player who could leave next summer. He was limited to just 11 games this past season, but in them, he had four goals and 12 points. This came after a down season where he had 34 points in 60 games. However, in his first two years with Dallas, he had back-to-back 72-point seasons, so he is certainly capable of being dominant offensively. Expect another big year for the 35-year-old winger.

Honorable Mentions: Denis Gurianov LW (RFA), Jason Robertson LW (RFA), Blake Comeau RW (UFA), Andrej Sekera D (UFA)
