Chicago Blackhawks: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be focused on in this piece. When looking at the players who have expiring contracts for next summer, there certainly are some notable ones.

Marc-André Fleury G (UFA): Marc-André Fleury is one of the new faces on the Blackhawks this season, but he only has one year left on his deal. He already has hinted at potentially retiring at the end of the season. Even if he decides to call it quits, he still should be a great short-term options for the Blackhawks. In 36 games last season, he had a 26-10-0 record, 1.98 GAA and .928 SV%. This was enough to win him the Vezina Trophy.

Kevin Lankinen G (UFA): The other half of Chicago's goaltender duo is eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer as well. Kevin Lankinen had a solid rookie season this past year, as he went 17-14-5 and had a .909 SV%. It will intriguing to see how the 26-year-old does this season. If he handles himself well again, he should be able to get a nice contract - whether it's with the Blackhawks or on the open market.

Calvin de Haan D (UFA): Calvin de Haan also has expiring contract for next summer. In 44 games this past season, the 30-year-old defenseman had a goal and 10 points. When on his game, he can produce well offensively, as evidenced by his 25-point campaign with the New York Islanders during the 2016-17 season. With this being a contract year, he could have himself another strong season.
