Edmonton Oilers Re-Sign Kailer Yamamoto

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Kailer Yamamoto to a one-year, $1.175 million contract.

As we reported earlier this week, Yamamoto was expected to sign a short-term deal because of Edmonton's limited cap space. It also makes sense for him, as it will give him another year to show that he can be a top-six winger in this league.

In 52 games this past season, Yamamoto scored eight goals and recorded 21 points. That's not bad production at all, but it is is important to remember that he had 26 points in 27 games the season before. Therefore, one has to wonder if he will be capable of being a bigger offensive threat again this season. If he is playing with Connor McDavid, he should be able to put up very solid totals this go-around.

Edmonton fans should be excited to see how the 22-year-old winger performs this season. It's a big year for the youngster, as if he puts together a strong campaign, he will be due for a significant raise.
