Vegas Golden Knights: Best Addition And Worst Subtraction Of The Summer

Now that the off-season seems to be slowing down, we have a pretty good idea of every team's roster heading into this upcoming year. In this segment, we will be going over the best addition and worst subtraction for each of them. Something important to note is that players who were re-signed or given extensions will not be eligible for the "best addition" section. The same applies for 2021 draft picks.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights' off-season will be remembered for one major and controversial move, which will be discussed below. However, they did make a few additions to the team who could help them. They certainly look like a contender yet again for this upcoming season.

Best Addition: Evgenii Dadonov RW

Even after a down season, Evgenii Dadonov could end up being the best addition for the Golden Knights. There is no denying that he struggled with the Ottawa Senators this season. In 55 games, he scored 13 goals and only recorded 20 points. However, two seasons before with the Florida Panthers, he had 70 points in 82 games. He has the ability to be a very productive top-six winger and on a team with as many skilled players as Vegas, he could see his totals go back up significantly.

An honorable mention also should go out to Nolan Patrick. The former second overall pick is hoping to get his career back on track after a very rough year in Philadelphia.

Worst Subtraction: Marc-André Fleury G

After winning the Vezina Trophy this past season, Marc-André Fleury was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for only minor-league forward Mikael Hakkarainen. The Golden Knights then terminated Hakkarainen's contract. Also, Fleury infamously found out about the move through Twitter. It was just an awful way for Fleury's tenure to end in Vegas and one that has angered a lot of the hockey world. Although the Golden Knights have Robin Lehner, losing Fleury still hurts significantly. In 36 games last season, he went 26-10-0 with a 1.98 GAA and .928 SV%. It will be hard to replace that and is unfair to Lehner and Laurent Brossoit to expect them to replicate those totals.
