3 Superstars Officially Added To Team Russia's Roster

Team Russia has announced that Nikita Kucherov, Alexander Ovechkin and Andrei Vasilevskiy will be on their Olympic roster. It's impossible to argue against these three.

Kucherov missed the entirety of the 2020-21 regular season for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but was absolutely stellar in the postseason. In 23 games, he scored eight goals and had 32 points. Thus, he was a huge reason why Tampa Bay would win their second Stanley Cup in a row. During the 2019, he also won the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award.

This will be Ovechkin's fourth time representing Russia in the Olympics. At 36 years old, he is still an elite scorer and has yet to show any signs of regression. In 45 games last season with the Washington Capitals, he scored 24 goals and had 42 points in 45 games. Ovechkin will be hoping to add an Olympic gold medal to his marvelous resume.

Russia has a big advantage having Vasilevskiy as their goaltender. The 27-year-old has both a Vezina Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy in his career already. In 42 games last season with the Lightning, he had a 31-10-1 record and .925 SV%. He also went 16-7-0 during the postseason and had a .937 SV%. He also has led the league in wins over the last four seasons.
