Aleksander Barkov Signs Big Extension With Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have signed Aleksander Barkov to an eight-year extension. It has an average annual value of $10 million. This is great news for the Panthers, as he was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

An extension was expected to happen before the start of the regular season, as general manager Bill Zito previously stated this. Thankfully, both parties were able to finalize Barkov's next contract.

With Barkov still only being 26 years old, the term of this contract is not too concerning. He also is one of the best two-way centers in the league, as evidenced by his Selke Trophy this past season.

In 50 games with the Panthers last season, he scored 26 goals and had 58 points. Now, the captain is staying in Florida for a very long time and their fans should be ecstatic.
