Latest on Filip Forsberg's Future With Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators made some major changes to their roster this past offseason, including trading away a couple of forward Filip Forsberg's best friends on the team. It makes sense why he's not rushing to sign a contract extension just yet.

The Swedish winger is entering the final season of his deal, seeing him make $6 million. He spoke to the media on Thursday about the contract talks and had this to say about his future:

I have a full year. I feel like you have to play your contract out. The only thing I can worry about is playing as good as I possibly can and help the team win. At the end of the day, that's going to put me in the best spot for any negotiations.

Last season Forsberg had 32 points in 39 games and has been a beast for the Preds since joining the team in 2012-2013. He was a first round pick of the Washington Capitals and traded to the Predators in a deal for Martin Erat.

385 points in 497 games later, let's just say things have worked out just fine for the Predators and for Forsberg.
