Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning is not known to be a dirty player but his hit on Monday night against Dylan Cozens of the Buffalo Sabres was certainly pushing the limits.

The play happened during the third period as the Sabres were up 3-1 and the Lightning were visibly frustrated. The back-to-back champs were in Buffalo and getting beat by the Sabres in an outcome that was a touch of a surprise.

Cozens cut in, Stamkos stepped up and the direct contact was to the head. Look for the league to review the hit and there could be a fine coming up as Stamkos pockets may become a little lighter after this one:
