Philadelphia Flyers Place Forward On Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have placed forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel on waivers.

Aube-Kubel has been off to a rough start with the Flyers this season, as he has just one assist in seven games. Furthermore, he was also scratched on multiple different occasions, so his spot in the lineup was no longer set in stone. Thus, this move was arguably predictable.

During the 2019-20 season as a rookie, Aube-Kubel showed offensive potential when he scored seven goals and recorded 15 points in 36 games. Yet, his production tailed off last season, as he scored three goals and had 12 points in 50 games.

Aube-Kubel became a mainstay in their bottom-six because of his two-way play and tenacity. Perhaps other NHL teams could consider claiming the 25-year-old winger because of these characteristics. A change of scenery could be what he needs. He also has one year left on his contract with a $1,075,000 cap hit, so he is easy to afford.

We will have to wait and see if a team takes a chance on him. Maybe the Buffalo Sabres or Arizona Coyotes could use him to help with their forward depth.
