Rumor: Maple Leafs Discussing a Few Trade Scenarios

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been active so far this season on the trade market. It's been reported the team has made a couple of their defenseman available and word is talks continue and some deals could be completed in the coming week to 10 days.

The Maple Leafs beat the New York Rangers on Thursday night and are one of the hottest teams in the league. They have a number of defensemen who are rotating through their lineup including Travis Dermott, Justin Holl and Timothy Liljegren with Dermott becoming the most likely to be traded.

Teams to watch out for include the New York Islanders who have interest in Dermott, along with the Minnesota Wild who are trying to move on from Jordan Greenway, a 6'6 forward who is struggling this season and looking for a change of scenery. The Maple Leafs have been in contact with the Wild in the past and general manager Kyle Dubas could see Greenway as a nice addition for this season and beyond. The team doesn't have a ton of size and his large frame would certainly help.

The Arizona Coyotes are another team who have had dialogue with the Leafs and perhaps a Dermott for Lawson Crouse swap could be coming. Another rugged winger who is still young and can provide the team with some more sandpaper.

The Chicago Blackhawks are another team to consider. The Blackhawks have been disappointing so far this season and will look to move out some pieces. Forwards Adam Gaudette and Dylan Strome are two names who are available.

Make no mistake about it the Maple Leafs will be going all-in again this season. While the trade deadline always brings excitement, expect to see Dubas and company make a couple of deals long before then. One of Holl or Dermott will be dealt and it could be coming down the pipe very very soon.
