Rumor: Seattle Kraken Shopping Defenseman for Trade

According to Anthony Scultore out of New York, the Seattle Kraken could be moving on from their captain, defenseman Mark Giordano.

Seattle is struggling this season and don't appear to be among the playoff contending teams as the club is having a hard time scoring goals and keeping the puck out of their own net. Certainly a recipe for disaster in the NHL and it could come time where they start to move on from their veteran assets.

'Gio' is 36 and is a pending free agent, making $6.75 million this season. So far in 15 games the ex-Calgary Flame has recorded seven points in 15 games. There's been multiple rumors throughout the past three or four months that have included Giordano being shipped to the New York Rangers so it appears this story line could be heating up as we lead up to the Christmas trade freeze.

The Rangers have a number of players the Kraken could use and one in particular could help their offense and that's center Ryan Strome. The 28-year-old is also a pending free-agent, making $4.5 million this season and so far in 10 games, Strome has put up seven points.

Along with the New York Rangers, there's a number of teams who could use another veteran defenseman with a pedigree of experience. Look out for the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Red Wings.
