Washington Capitals Key Forward Placed On IR

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie has been placed on IR with an upper-body injury. With that, he isn't eligible to play until Sunday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Oshie just returned on November 20th when the Capitals played the San Jose Sharks. During the contest, he had an assist, but most notably reinjured himself. This was his first game back with the team in almost a month, so this occurrence certainly is deflating for both the player and Washington.

Oshie is one of Washington's top forwards and the truth is in his stats this season. In eight games, he has four goals and seven points. He's a player who they certainly want to keep in the lineup, but at this juncture, they can't rush him back. Another setback after this one would be very bad.

Here's to hoping the 34-year-old winger recovers well over these next few days and can play on Sunday. We'll have to wait and see what happens on that front.
