Dallas Stars Lose Five More Players

The Dallas Stars have placed Radek Faksa, Miro Heiskanen, Joel Kiviranta, Michael Raffl and Jason Robertson in COVID-19 protocol.

Late last week, defenseman Jani Hakanpaa entered protocol. With this, the Stars now suddenly have six players out. Before then, they were being spared from the virus, but now it's hitting them full force. It also doesn't help that many of them are quite notable.

Faksa will be missed on the penalty kill while he's out of the lineup. With that, he's been a solid bottom-six center for the Stars this season. In 29 games so far, he has two goals and 10 points.

Heiskanen is Dallas' best defenseman, so naturally, this is very hard news for the Stars. Fresh off of signing his monstrous extension during the offseason, the young defenseman has been quite well. In 28 games, he has four goals and 18 points.

Kiviranta has been off to a noticeably slow start this season. The 2020 playoff hero has just two assists in 22 contests thus far. However, even with his struggles to produce offense, he is still another key part of their depth.

After signing with the Stars during the offseason, Raffl has been a pretty solid addition for them. On the young season so far, he has eight points in 28 games.

To conclude, Robertson is a major loss to the offensive group. After recording 45 points in 51 games as a rookie last season, he's been off to an even better sophomore season. In 23 games thus far, he has 10 goals and an impressive 25 points.

The Stars are set to play the Colorado Avalanche on December 29th, assuming the game isn't postponed. Heading into it, they are now very shorthanded.
