Leafs' Mitch Marner Making Progress With Injury

Mitch Marner has participated in practice for the first time since suffering his upper-body injury. Although this doesn't mean that he will be returning to game action immediately, it certainly is a step in the right direction.

At this time, Marner is currently on LTIR and has to miss 10 games in total before returning. It's important to note that the postponed games from before the holiday break also counted towards this.

The Leafs would love to have Marner back as soon as possible, as they currently have a whopping 14 players in COVID-19 protocol. With this, some of these players include Morgan Rielly, William Nylander, John Tavares and Jack Campbell. Thus, they are immensely shorthanded once they resume games.

Having a star like Marner back in the lineup would help makes things a little better for Toronto. It's been another very solid season for the winger, as he has six goals and 21 points in 24 games.

Here's to hoping he continues to make progress from here and will be ready to go very soon.
