Flyers' Top Center Out Week-To-Week

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that center Sean Couturier will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

This is just terrible timing for the Flyers. After a horrendous 10-game losing streak, they have since heated up and now sport a 13-12-6 record. Due to this, they are once again in the wild card race. However, with Couturier out, it certainly isn't beneficial to them in the slightest.

Couturier, who just signed an eight-year extension that kicks in next season, has six goals and 11 assists in 29 games thus far. Uncharacteristically, the 29-year-old also sports a minus-6 rating, but that surely can be blamed on Philadelphia's immensely bad stretch of play earlier this campaign. Still, though, there's no denying that they will miss his elite two-way game during his absence.

It will be interesting to see how the Flyers respond without one of their best forwards. We'll just have to wait and see on that front.
