NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres Goalie Could Be Done for the Season

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that goaltender Craig Anderson's injury has been downgraded and is now on a month-to-month timeline. There's certainly growing concern that this could be it for Anderson's season and potentially for his career.

The 40-year-old netminder has been stellar when he's played this season, posting a 4-2-0 record with a .921 save %.

The Sabres have gone out and addressed the need as they acquired Malcolm Subban from the Chicago Blackhawks. The team was aware the news was coming and of course planned for it. Subban was recalled on Friday and looks to get most of the starts down the stretch for the Sabres. The netminder is very excited to join the Sabres and can't wait to get started.

Subban, who turns 28 on Dec. 21, has a 36-31-8 record in 82 career NHL games with a 3.02 GAA and .899 save percentage.

As for Anderson, this is some unfortunate news and appears the goalie could be headed to retirement. He appeared in 658 career NHL games, posting a record of 295-254-69, with a 2.83 GAA and a .913 save %. Anderson played for the Sabres, Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche Florida Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks. He was originally a third-round pick of the Blackhawks back in 2003.

We wish Anderson a speedy recovery and all the best in whatever the future holds.
