Sidney Crosby Looking Forward to Connor McDavid Matchup

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers get ready to faceoff on Wednesday night and the spotlight will be on superstars Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. It's a matchup of two of the league's best players and Crosby is looking forward to trying to shut down the Oilers phenom.

The Penguins legend recently caught up with NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger and had this to say about what he's seen so far in McDavid's amazing career:

He's playing at such a high level, and when someone is playing at the level he's at, it's hard to think that they can find another level. I think he's done that. I think that's the most impressive part about it. I think it's an appreciation for how difficult it is to make the plays that he does. The one against New York, that was late in the game too, it was the tying goal. That's the fun part. You don't want to be on the other side of that if you're on the ice, but you have a certain level of appreciation. That's fun to see. It's great for the game and it's great to see someone at that level doing what he's doing.

Wednesday night's game is the seventh time McDavid and the Oilers have taken on Sid the Kid and the Penguins, with Pittsburgh certainly holding the upper hand. Crosby's team has a 6-0-1 record in those games even though McDavid has out produced Crosby 10-4 on the score sheet.

Not only will Crosby be a test for the Oilers, Penguins starting goalie Tristan Jarry is turning heads and is off to a blazing start with a sub-2 goals against average. The Penguins are coming off a tough shootout loss to the Calgary Flames and look to get back on track in Western Canada.

As for Crosby, he looks forward to playing McDavid after spending some time this summer skating together on a line in Montreal. It was looked at as Olympic prep and there's certainly going to be many eyes from Hockey Canada watching this one Wednesday night.
