Washington Capitals Forward Placed On Waivers

The Washington Capitals have placed forward Michael Sgarbossa on waivers.

When looking at the rise of COVID-19 cases in the NHL, it certainly seems possible that a team will claim Sgarbossa. For example, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a total of 14 players currently in protocol, while the Montreal Canadiens have nine. There are plenty of other teams with multiple players out, too.

Sgarbossa has also been effective when called up by the Capitals this season. In seven games, he has two goals to go along with an assist. With the Hershey Bears, he also scored eight goals and had 14 points in just 15 games. When seeing as how he also plays a rather heavy game, we could see a team give him a shot.

In 62 career NHL games between the Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks, Florida Panthers and Capitals, Sgarbossa has four goals, 11 assists, 15 points and 23 penalty minutes. Let's see if another team decides to scoop him up.
