Anaheim Ducks Claim Forward Off Waivers

The Vegas Golden Knights placed Lucas Elvenes on unconditional waivers with the plan to terminate his contract on Monday afternoon. However, that plan has now changed, as the Anaheim Ducks have surprisingly claimed the young forward.

It seemed that Elvenes would be heading back to the Swedish Hockey League, but now, the Ducks are keeping the 22-year-old winger around.

This could be a beneficial move for Elvenes. Although the Ducks have an impressive 19-12-7 record, they are still in the process of building their team. As a result of this, they have less forward depth than the Golden Knights and a younger identity in general. With this, perhaps he could make his way up to the NHL squad.

With the Henderson Silver Knights this season, Elvenes scored two goals and had 10 points in 20 games. He also showed very good promise during his rookie year in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves, as he had 12 goals and 48 points in 59 games.

He's still young enough where he can get better, so let's see if he does just that with Anaheim.
