Bruins Head Coach Comments On Jake DeBrusk's Trade Request

Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters that Jake DeBrusk's trade request may no longer stand right now.

DeBrusk requested a trade earlier this season shortly after Cassidy made him a healthy scratch. The 25-year-old winger is looking for a fresh start and a bigger role elsewhere. Yet, even with this being so, he still has been playing and trying to help the Bruins win in the meantime.

It's another down year for DeBrusk, so his trade value certainly isn't as high as it would have been two years ago. In 30 games, he has five goals, five assists, and a minus-3 rating. However, if he can find his previous form as the year continues, it will make it easier for the Bruins to find him a new home. Furthermore, they'd receive a better package in the process, too.

Alas, this is kind of a surprising development. A DeBrusk trade seemed inevitable, but now, there seems to be a chance that we won't see one this season. We'll have to wait and see what happens from here.
