Oilers McDavid Brushes Off Fan Concern Over Adding Evander Kane

'It is what it is'. Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid recently spoke to the media about the team signing Evander Kane and that was his response to a question regarding the fan bases reaction to the expected news. Needless to say, McDavid cares about winning hockey games first and fore most.

Kane has been heavily linked to joining the Oilers as the NHL currently investigates his travel history in late December. Reports surfaced that the San Jose Sharks forward broke COVID protocol with his AHL team and considering his background of behavioral issues, the NHL may once again come down hard on the power forward.

McDavid went on to mention, as he appeared a little on edge:

Right now, it's all speculation. Obviously, Evander is an amazing player and he's had lots of success over the last couple of years. Whatever else is going on, it's not something I look into much. I’m not really here to discuss optics issues. If fans don’t like it and media doesn’t like it, I think it is what it is. I think there are a lot of things that go on the ice and whatnot that fans don’t like and we don’t necessarily have to discuss that up here with you guys. I think Evander is a great player and can help us a lot on the ice and that’s first and foremost.
