Team Canada Names New Head Coach For Olympics

Team Canada has announced that Jeremy Colliton will be taking over as head coach for the Winter Olympics. Claude Julien no longer can travel to Beijing, as he slipped on the ice and fractured his ribs.

It certainly is disappointing to hear that Julien will not be able to coach the team - especially under this kind of circumstance. This would have been the 61-year-old's first time being a head coach since he was fired by the Montreal Canadiens in February of last year. Here's to hoping he has a speedy recovery.

Canada will still be run by someone with head coaching experience, at least. Colliton was head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks from 2018 to November of this past year. He quickly became an NHL head coach, as he retired from professional hockey just four years before. He also was head coach of Mora IK from 2014 to 2017. For a 37-year-old, he has an impressive coaching resume and will be looking to build on it by leading Canada to a gold medal.

It will be interesting to see how Team Canada responds to this sudden coaching change from here.
