Vancouver Canucks To Be Without Captain

Bo Horvat of the Vancouver Canucks has entered COVID-19 protocol.

With the Vancouver Canucks aiming to get back into the playoff picture, this certainly is bad news for them. Horvat is not only their captain but among the best players on the entire roster. With all that he provides, it will be hard to replace him over these next few games.

In 38 games this season, Horvat has 13 goals, 10 assists, and a minus-2 rating. He was on the verge of having a hot streak, too, as he had two goals and an assist over his last two games. Yet, due to this news, he now will have to put it on pause. With that, the Canucks are losing their best faceoff taker and a very important part of their penalty kill.

At this point of the season, the Canucks have a 17-18-3 record and are seventh in the Pacific Division. However, they also are only seven points behind the San Jose Sharks for the second Wild Spot in the Western Conference, so they certainly aren't out of the race yet. They need to start winning often to help their chances, but now they are in for a big challenge without Horvat.
