Video: Sharks' Hertl Completes Hat Trick With OT Winner

Tomas Hertl put the San Jose Sharks on his back Saturday night. After being down 2-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers in the third period, the 28-year-old tied the game with two goals of his own. Then, in overtime, he scored the winner to complete the hat trick.

That's the kind of individual performance the Sharks needed from Hertl. With this comeback win, they now have a 19-16-1 record and are fifth in the Pacific Division. It's apparent that they aren't out of the Wild Card race yet, and he is only helping their chances of staying in it.

Hertl has been having an excellent campaign thus far, and it really couldn't have come at a better time for him. He is due for a new contract after this season and will surely land himself a big raise if he keeps playing this well. In 36 games, he has 20 goals to go along with 11 helpers. If the Sharks decide to trade the star center at the deadline, they would land a very big return for him. Yet, if they stay competitive, it may not be as easy of a decision to do so.

Nevertheless, what a strong performance by Hertl!
