NHL Rumors: 3 Possible Trade Destinations For Reilly Smith

The Vegas Golden Knights need to clear cap space for when Jack Eichel is ready to go. One player who has talked about often in the rumor mill is Reilly Smith. The original Golden Knight is eligible for free agency over the summer, and the team will likely not have the money to bring him back. When seeing as how he's a solid top-six winger, there should be plenty of interest in his services around the league.

Here are three possible trade destinations for the 30-year-old forward.

New York Rangers: Reilly Smith and the Rangers could be a perfect match. The Rangers have been on the hunt for a right winger since Sammy Blais was ruled out for the rest of this season. When seeing as how he has 12 goals and 30 points in 44 games this season, he produces enough to play in the top six. The Rangers will be adding a winger of some kind by the deadline, and it's hard to find a player who fits better than Smith.

Nashville Predators: The Predators have a 28-14-4 record and are second in the Central Division. They have been exceeding initial expectations, so now would be a good time to add to their forward group. The Predators never added a similar replacement to Viktor Arvidsson, and Smith could be a short-term option to change that. When looking at their forward group, he also could compete for a spot in their top six, too.

Washington Capitals: The Capitals were in on the Evander Kane sweepstakes, but the veteran winger opted to sign with the Edmonton Oilers. With this, it seems probable that they will be on the hunt for another potential top-six option. Smith could be an interesting fit there but also could provide solid secondary scoring as a third-liner, too.
