NHL Rumors: 3 Possible Trade Destinations For John Klingberg

John Klingberg's relationship with the Dallas Stars has soured a bit. This is because extension talks have been nonexistent. Due to this, the Stars have been shopping the 29-year-old offensive defenseman, and he should be traded before the deadline passes. He certainly would make a fine addition to many teams because of his offensive ability. In 37 games this year, he has one goal and 22 assists. Although he would likely be a rental for whichever team acquires him, he still would make for a wonderful short-term investment.

Here are three potential landing spots for him.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes have been heavily linked to Klingberg since it became clear that he was available. The Hurricanes are known for having a strong defensive group, so adding him would only make it even more lethal. With Carolina sporting a 31-9-2 record already this season, it's scary to think that they could get even better by adding a big-name defenseman like Klingberg to their roster.

Florida Panthers: Like Carolina, the Florida Panthers have been linked to John Klingberg. In a hypothetical swap, the Panthers would likely send Owen Tippett as a piece the other way - as we previously reported. The Panthers are already so talented offensively, but adding Klingberg to the mix would make them even more dangerous. Their power play would be truly unstoppable, too.

Calgary Flames: The Flames are aiming to land a puck-moving defenseman by the deadline. Although they could elect to acquire former captain Mark Giordano from the Seattle Kraken, Klingberg would also be a fantastic addition for them, too. They already are rumored to be in the sweepstakes, so it doesn't seem out of the question that we could see him in a Flames jersey by the season's end.
