NHL Rumors: Another Team Linked To Claude Giroux

According to Mike McKenna of Daily Faceoff, Claude Giroux is an ideal trade target for the Calgary Flames.

We previously reported that the Flames, are looking to not only add a puck-moving defenseman this trade deadline season but also a top-six forward. Due to Giroux's extreme versatility, he could give them the latter as either a center or winger. Although McKenna noted that Giroux could fit perfectly as their 2C, there's also an argument to be had that he take Blake Coleman's spot on the second-line right wing position, too. Either way, a fit is there on paper.

The Flyers currently have a 15-22-8 record and are not going to be in the playoffs this spring. General manager Chuck Fletcher has already stated that he plans to talk to Giroux about his future with the team. If the 34-year-old is open to a change of scenery and a chance for a run at the Stanley Cup, we should see him traded. With this news, it would be shocking if the Flames aren't in on the sweepstakes.

In 42 games this season, Giroux has 15 goals and 20 assists. Overall, it's been another very solid campaign for him offensively, even with the Flyers playing so poorly.
