NHL Rumors: Avalanche To Trade Forward

J.T. Compher is a roster player who the Colorado Avalanche could trade in a blockbuster, according to Frank Seravalli

Compher has had a decent season this year. In 36 games, he has eight goals to go along with eight assists. He certainly works well as a third-liner, but the 26-year-old would become expendable if the Avalanche can acquire an upgrade to their forward group.

Compher is currently in his sixth season with the Avalanche and he has been a dependable depth scorer in most of them. Yet, it also makes sense that they could be open to moving him, as his contract expires after next season, and he will be eligible for unrestricted free agency. If he isn't a long-term part of their plans, it would be very understandable to move him.

It will be interesting to see if Colorado ends up parting ways with Compher. The only way where it would make sense during this season is if they acquire a high-impact player like Claude Giroux, Joe Pavelski, or Marc-Andre Fleury. Alas, we will have to wait and see what ends up occurring on this front.
