NHL Rumors: Canucks To Trade Veteran Defenseman

According to Frank Seravalli, the Vancouver Canucks could move Luke Schenn before the trade deadline passes.

The Canucks' primary goal from here is to create more cap space before we get to the offseason. Although Schenn has an affordable $850,000 cap hit, he also is locked up for next season. Therefore, he is a player who Seravalli views as potentially movable. Given how well he has been playing this season, it could be the right time for Vancouver to move. His trade value may not get better than where it's at right now.

In 34 games this season, Schenn has three goals, seven assists, and a plus-13 rating. With that, he has been very active in the physical side of the game, as he has a whopping 144 hits. Contenders looking for a little more grit on the backend certainly should be calling the Canucks about his availability.

The Canucks have multiple players who could end up being moved by the deadline, and now it appears Schenn has joined that list. Let's see if a trade involving him comes to fruition.
