NHL Rumors: Wild Aiming To Trade Forward

According to Frank Seravalli, Minnesota Wild forward Victor Rask is currently on the trading block.

This season has been a difficult one for Rask. This is made most apparent by the fact that he was placed on waivers by Minnesota back in January. He has remained with the NHL club since then, but it's clear that his fit with the team is in question. Furthermore, with the Wild looking to make upgrades, it would be ideal to move out his $4 million cap hit if possible.

Although Rask is certainly overpaid for what he provides, it also helps that his contract expires at the completion of this season. That could help the Wild's chances of moving the 28-year-old, as he doesn't carry any term after this campaign. Furthermore, he has had moments of strong play this season, too. In 29 total games, he has five goals, eight assists, and a plus-7 rating. Perhaps there's another club who would be open to have that kind of depth scoring in their lineup.

If the Wild have it their way, they will manage to include him in a trade that brings in an upgrade at center. There should be a decent chunk of players who fit this description available at the deadline. Perhaps the Philadelphia Flyers would take him off their hands - Claude Giroux has listed Minnesota as one of his preferred destinations.
