Los Angeles Kings Receive Brutal Injury News

The Los Angeles Kings are in a battle in the western conference to make the playoffs as they've surprised a lot of teams this season. The Kings currently sit with a 32-20-8 record so far in 2021-22 and are only four points up on the Vegas Golden Knights who sit in the second wild card spot. Unfortunately for the Kings, they'll be without some key pieces as the injury bug has chomped on their roster.

Dustin Brown will be out for multiple weeks after suffering an upper-body injury. The veteran winger has turned back the clock this season and has been contributing in several different ways on the ice. He's now 37 years old and is a pending unrestricted free agent, so far this season he's recorded 25 points in 57 games.

As for Matt Roy, the defenseman suffered a lower-body injury and as of yet there's been no timetable of his return. The Kings blue line has been banged up all season and Roy had managed to avoid missing any significant time, but it appears that's caught up to him now. So far this season the 27-year-old native of Michigan has tallied 17 points in 58 games and is signed through the 2023-24 season at $3.15 million annually.

Look for the Kings to go out and try and acquire some forward depth before the March 21 trade deadline. They have some big holes to fill as Brown is the latest winger to go down with long-term injury and if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, general manager Rob Blake is going to need to make a move to find some healthy reinforcements.
