NHL Rumors: Flyers Defenseman Gaining Trade Interest

According to Elliotte Friedman, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov could find himself on the trading block soon.

Although Friedman noted that any trade regarding Provorov wouldn't be immediate, the Flyers are contemplating his future with the organization and a future move isn't out of the question.

With the way the Flyers' season has gone, they have several decisions to make when it comes to their next core. Captain Claude Giroux is expected to have a new home before the deadline passes, and that is really just the tip of the iceberg. There is no rush to move a guy like Provorov, however, as he has a $6.75 million cap hit and is locked up under contract until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

If officially made available, Provorov would get a ton of attention. When he's at his best, he can play top-pair minutes. In 56 games this season, he has five goals, 15 assists, and a minus-9 rating.

Alas, it will be interesting to see what happens with Provorov from here.
