NHL Rumors: Minnesota Wild Trading Highly Touted Prospect

The Minnesota Wild are granting prospect Jack McBain his wish as the collegiate star is looking to be traded so he can sign with another team besides the Wild. Talks are heating up and Darren Dreger of TSN sees a deal happening as early as Thursday:

McBain is a 6-foot-3 center who is a former third-round pick of the Wild back in 2018. The Toronto, ON native recently suited up for Canada at the Olympics and has spent the past four seasons with Boston College of the NCAA. This season at BC he recorded 19 goals in 24 games and has shown he could be ready for prime time. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet commented on the McBain/Minnesota drama in his recent 32 Thoughts blog and it sounds like the Montreal Canadiens and Arizona Coyotes are heavily interested:

Two teams that make a lot of sense for Minnesota and Jack McBain: Arizona and Montreal. The Wild are looking for a second-rounder. The Coyotes have five. The Canadiens have one this year, but three thirds. The Wild are also looking for a defender with beef. I’d heard they had interest in Christian Dvorak, but that was dated. They like the player, but can’t fit him now.

The Wild have been looking to add another experienced forward and have also looked into the goaltending market. Let's see if this trade will impact any other deals and have a ripple effect on their depth chart.
