Oilers Sign Defenseman To Extension

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Dmitri Samorukov to a one-year, $775,000 contract extension. It is also a one-way contract.

Samorukov was selected by the Oilers with the 84th-overall pick of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. At this time, he is trying to land himself a permanent spot on the NHL roster. He made his debut with the Oilers this season but has yet to play in another contest since.

Samorukov is having a very solid season with the Bakersfield Condors, so he could land himself another call-up in the near future. The 22-year-old is starting to contribute more offensively at the AHL level, as he has two goals and 10 assists in 37 games. He only had two goals and eight assists in 47 games with the team during the 2019-20 campaign, so he is showing signs of progression.

The Oilers also signed Vincent Desharnais and James Hamblin to two-year, two-way contracts.
