Senators Receive Brutal Injury News

Ottawa Senators head coach DJ Smith told reporters that Thomas Chabot will likely be out for the rest of the season due to a fractured hand.

Although the Senators will not be in the playoffs this spring, this is still horrible news for them. Chabot is their top defenseman and was once again having a strong season. In 55 games on the year, he has six goals, 28 assists, and a minus-1 rating. However, if things go as expected, this is where his numbers will end.

Overall, Chabot has blossomed into a legitimate top-pairing d-man since the Senators selected him with the 18th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 309 games with Ottawa since then, he has 41 goals, 143 assists, and 184 points. With that, he also was an All-Star back in 2019.

Nevertheless, here's to hoping Chabot has a speedy recovery and has another excellent campaign in 2022-23.
