Video: Jonathan Toews Fights Zach Sanford After Big Hit

Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is known for a number of things, as the 33-year-old has won awards for his leadership (Mark Messier Award), his defense (Selke Trophy), and his overall play in the playoffs (Conn Smyth Trophy) on the way to winning three Stanley Cups.  One thing he is not known for, however, is dropping the gloves and fighting, as the 14-year veteran had fought just seven times over his career heading into last night's matchup with the Ottawa Senators.

Midway through the first period of Saturday night's game, Toews decided to make it eight when he took exception to a hit on Kirby Dach by Sens winger Zach Sanford:

Predictably, the fight didn't go Toews way, as the 6'4" Sanford got the better of him and seemingly rocked him with a right hand before both men fell to the ice.  Toews appeared no worse for wear, however, as he managed to score two goals following the fight en route to a 6-3 Chicago victory.

Both the Blackhawks and Senators find themselves well out of playoff contention, and both teams could be major players ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline on March 21st.  Make sure you stay tuned to NHLTradeRumors.me for all the latest trade rumors and speculation heading into the deadline.
