Video: Milan Lucic Vs. Givani Smith - Round 2

At 33 years old and after 15 years in the NHL, Milan Lucic doesn't skate quite as fast as he used to, and he doesn't put up points like he used to either, but the 6'3" Vancouver native is still revered as one of the toughest players in the league.  During Saturday night's game between the Detroit Red Wings and Lucic's Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome, we got a reminder that you don't want to mess with Lucic - or his teammates when he's on the ice to do something about it.

The Flames' held a 2-0 lead in the third period thanks to powerplay goals from Elias Lindholm in the first period and Tyler Toffoli in the second when a melee broke out between the two teams following a hit by Flames center Sean Monahan along the boards.  Milan Lucic just happened to be on the ice at the time and he immediately threw himself into the middle of things, grabbing Red Wings tough guy Givani Smith and treating fans to a scrap between two of the league's most prolific fighters:

If you feel like you're coming down with a case of deja vu, these two titans squared off back in October in which Lucic quickly got the better of the 24-year-old, seen below:

The Flames went on to win 3-0, meaning Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom notched his league-leading 9th(!) shutout this season, giving the 32-year-old Swede a real shot at winning his first Vezina Trophy, and handing the Red Wings their fifth straight loss in the process.

The Flames are back at it again tonight when they visit the best team in the conference - the Colorado Avalanche, while the Red Wings will have to wait until Tuesday when they take on the Oilers in Edmonton to try and snap their losing streak.
