Red Wings Sign Top Prospect

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Simon Edvinsson to a three-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.

This is immensely exciting news, as Edvinsson is one of Detroit's best prospects. The team selected him with the sixth-overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, so naturally, he possesses a plethora of potential. If he continues to develop well, he could one day be a part of the Red Wings' top pairing.

After recording one assist in his first 10 games with Frolunda HC of the SHL last season, he took a massive step forward this campaign. In 44 games, he scored two goals and added a solid 17 assists. With that, he has been praised for his excellent defensive play, so it appears that he is emerging into an effective two-way d-man already.

Nevertheless, don't be surprised to see Edvinsson on the Red Wings' NHL roster next season.
