Blue Jackets Sign Top Prospect

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Kirill Marchenko to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Marchenko is viewed as having a good amount of potential, so Blue Jacket fans should be excited to see him leave the KHL. In 39 games this season with St. Petersburg SKA, the 21-year-old winger recorded 12 goals to go along with eight assists. Offensively, he did have a little bit of a down year, as he had a 28-point campaign in 41 games the season before. Yet, the future is still quite bright for him.

Marchenko may need a little bit of time in the AHL before making the jump to Columbus' NHL roster. Even with this being the case, if he continues to develop his scoring touch, he could blossom into a top-six winger later down the road. Let's see what comes to fruition on that front.
