Florida Panthers Sign Prospect

The Florida Panthers have signed Santtu Kinnunen to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Kinnunen was selected with the 207th overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Panthers. Due to this, he could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but Florida has successfully locked him before that possibility came to fruition.

Kinnunen just put together a strong season with Tappara Tampere. In 54 games with the club, he scored four goals and added 19 assists. With that, the 6-foot-1 d-man showed some tenacity in his game, as he had 57 penalty minutes on the year.

It will be intriguing to see if Kinnunen will be able to make the jump to the NHL squad later down the road. Until then, expect to see him in the AHL starting next season.
