NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets Star Wants To Stay Put

While speaking with the media, Columbus Blue Jackets star Patrik Laine noted that he wants to stay put. With that, he noted how much he loves playing for the club.

After recording just 21 points in 45 games with Columbus last season, Laine found his elite form in 2021-22. In 56 games on the year, he scored 26 goals and added a solid 30 assists. Thus, even though he did have some injury trouble, he was a point-per-game player for the first time in his career. This is a trend both he and the Blue Jackets would love to see for years to come.

Laine is a restricted free agent this summer, so the Blue Jackets have control over him. Yet, with Laine showing optimism about staying in Columbus, it seems likely that we could see a long-term deal finalized between both parties. Let's see what comes to fruition.
