NHL Rumors: Jason Spezza Opens Up About Playing Future

While speaking with reporters, Jason Spezza noted that he is unsure if he will play during the 2022-23 season. However, he also went on to say that he is only willing to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs if he chooses not to retire.

Spezza once again showed this season that he can be an effective fourth-line forward when called upon. In 71 games on the year, he scored 12 goals and added 13 assists. Overall, those are pretty decent totals considering his limited minutes. With that, he also received a lot of praise for his leadership abilities.

Many NHL fans are likely rooting for the 38-year-old to play one last season, as he is just five points away from reaching 1,000 during his career. Him reaching that milestone would be massive, but at the end of the day, this is a decision that he will be making along with his family.
