NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Bryan Rust

After blowing a 3-1 series lead to the New York Rangers in the first round, the Pittsburgh Penguins are now entering a huge offseason. One of their many pending UFAs includes Bryan Rust, and it seems more likely than not that he will be testing the market. After recording a 58-point campaign in 60 games, he has earned the right to go for his big payday. Here are three clubs who could give him just that.

Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings seem like a perfect fit for Rust. They are a team on the rise that could use another top-six right-winger to help them compete in the deep Atlantic Division. With that, Rust is also a Michigan-native, so why wouldn't he consider joining his hometown club?

Pittsburgh Penguins: Although the Penguins have limited cap space and several key players eligible for unrestricted free agency, they are still a potential landing spot for Rust. If they can find an agreement with him, they absolutely will jump on the opportunity. He's formed excellent chemistry with Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel, so the Pens should at least try to re-sign him before free agency.

Seattle Kraken: The Kraken are expected to be big spenders this offseason, and they desperately need help with their forward group. They also have the cap space available to pay Rust the kind of money he is looking for, so view them as a dark horse in the sweepstakes.
